Often SMEs operating in the arena of real estate development face a peculiar problem. They normally operate anywhere between two to twenty sites, all having a maximum of seven or eight flats per project. All materials required other than cement, sand, steel and blue metal experience centralized purchase. Materials are received in one place and are diverted to various sites. Often the companies do not have a clue as to what is consumed in which site. Read the rest of this entry »
Inventory Control Workbook for Real Estate Companies
March 12th, 2010Flash, Frames and Templates
December 3rd, 2009On the 28th of November we conducted seminar titled ‘Marketing on a Shoestring Budget’ for CEOs of small businesses. Visiting the website of the attendees was a revealing experience. Quite a few of the websites frankly need to be redone. Some of them were vanilla websites while others were expensive and well designed ones. Common denominator in most of the websites is either the contents leave much to be desired or the design was made with no understanding about the search engines, or both. Don’ts that we Do
November 18th, 2009In India, like any other place in the world, a Non IT start up at small to medium scale happens because the promoter actually knows to do something. Period. IT start up happens in two forms. One the start up entrepreneur actually knows to do something. A successful Navision resource takes up Microsoft Dynamics Partnership and starts running. Two, the startup entrepreneur thinks he has a bright idea that mitigates an existing pain point or opens up new vistas. I can’t really think of any other reason to get into startup eco-system. Global Warming/Climate Change/Energy Saving – A Primer
October 21st, 2009Note: Global Heads meet and discuss this. Green Earth Activists (Tree Huggers for dissidents) seem to exist only because of this. Terra Bytes of Data travel across Blue Nowhere. Rain forests are being destroyed to produce tons of papers to write about it. But what exactly is global warming or climate change or energy savings? What can we do about it? We contacted Mr.Vijayasarathy, Managing Director of Vijay Energy Products Pvt. Ltd., to write a series of articles. This is the first in the series which touches base. Specifics issues on energy saving methods and their economic justifications will be addressed later. Readers are encouraged to share specific problems either by commenting here or by sending an email to info@smbenablers.com – Srikanth Gopalan, SMB Enablers. Now over to guest post.
Global warming is a dramatically urgent and serious problem. What is being done is not sufficient. We don’t need to wait for governments to find a solution. Every person can help by adopting a more responsible lifestyle: It’s the best method to save our planet, before it is too late. Please always keep this in mind while reading this series or anything that is said on the subject and what is being done is precious little. But, we can make a difference. Two Goodies and a Back Flip
September 3rd, 2009I chanced on to Mikogo and tried it in conjunction with Skype. Excellent tool. I can set up a meeting and get all my participants to see my monitor in their screen real time while voice of the participants is carried via a Skype Conference. Scope, obviously is infinite. There are other tools. But this one is simple and free. I am not elaborating further since I plan a separate post on Mikogo.
Second is the personal income tax calculator for salaried persons provided by Y.Nithyanandan in his web site for the past, may be twelve years. Freely downloadable. Read the rest of this entry »
SMB Marketing – Do Advertisements Really Work?
August 26th, 2009The other day I was working on the Marketing Plan of a client. Every ingredient for success is already present with the client. A unique product offering. Internationally reputed principals reaching out to India through an SPV which is a wholly owned subsidiary. Excellent third world pricing. Huge and growing oligopoly market. Enviable list of past customers. Great Patrons. Esteem value to customers. You name it, it is already present – except success commensurate with the standing of the parent company. This is too good to be …
August 17th, 2009Government of India has recently introduced Direct Tax Code Bill 2009. This, I am assuming, will have far reaching effects and simplify Direct Tax Laws. Assuming, since I have had only a cursory glance at the document, I have no urgency since taxation is not my professional interest and I am going to get the info in professional forums, anyway, within a couple of weeks!
