As the saying goes, ‘Be careful about what you ask for. You might actually get it’. Industry has been clamoring for one time restructuring of all loans and the RBI has granted it in post Covid scenario. Now, it is up to the entrepreneurs to use it. The window to opt in closes on 31st Dec 2020 and we should act real quick. It is virtually God sent. One time restructuring of loans can help MSMEs to reboot – Financially and Strategically.
Who should consider re structuring of loans?

Consider the following.
1. Moratorium was applied from April, 2020.
2. Actual realisable stock vis-à-vis what is given in the books for DP Purpose. Book stock is less than DP stock.
3. Actual Receivables vis-à-vis what is given to the banks for DP purpose. Book Receivable is less than DP receivable
4. Actual Payable vis-à-vis what is given to the bank for DP purpose. Book payable is more than DP payable

If any one of these are prevalent in the company, you should seriously consider restructuring. One time restructuring of loans is available for standard accounts and in some cases recent NPAs can also be restructured. Simply put, essence of restructuring is comfortably matching the interest and principal repayment with the free cash flow from operations. At the same time, make sure that your investment and working capital needs are met without manipulating data. Sounds daunting for a stressed company. But, this can be done with the help of one time restructuring window given by RBI.
